Every year Intuit releases a new version of the most popular account program on Earth, QuickBooks.  Each year new features are added and additional functionality incorporated.  This year is no different.  Many new features that will help you and your bookkeeper get organized and manage the back office financials, helping you save time and work more efficiently.

Let’s take a look at some of these new features:

Bill Tracker – Real-time dashboard for money out transactions
This new feature saves time by viewing real-time data and status of the money out transactions for the business.  You’re also able to filter the tracker by clicking on any of the color blocks at the top.  Filtering by Vendor, Transaction Type, Transaction Status, and Date Range will be quite helpful.  Find it by selecting Vendors from the Menu bar and then Bill Tracker.

Improved E-Invoicing
Find this improved feature by clicking the Email icon and the top of an open Create Invoice window.  This feature helps save the time of manually creating and mailing invoices.  With a new interface, you can send invoices and have clients pay via credit or debit card directly from a link in the invoice.  This speeds up your AR Turnover, which in turn improves your cash flow.

Fiscal Year-to-Last Month Report Filter
In previous versions of QuickBooks, users were required to manually select the last month in a Year-to-Last Month analysis, and after manually selecting the date range, they had to memorize the report for future use for the same static date. When a new period was needed for the reporting, the date range would have to be manually changed and the report rememorized.  Now, you can save time by simply selecting Year-to-Last Month for the date range, which is the best way to look at a year to date time period.  This is usually true because by using the current month, some revenues and expenses have yet to come in and will skew the financial picture.

Improved Verify and Rebuild Process
Troubleshooting QuickBooks is never fun.  In fact, it’s not fun at all.  Now we can save time with the newly improved process. There are many reasons that a data verification fails when trying to do a full backup. With previous versions of QuickBooks, in order to troubleshoot these issues, the QuickBooks users had to locate the correct QBWin.log on their computer system, and then try to interpret the results.

With QuickBooks 2016, the user does not have to find the QBWin.log; instead, the details of the detected issues for both the Verify and Rebuild process are provided with links to support articles for more information if needed.
